The former School of Arts is a substantial masonry building in classical revival style and was constructed in 1888-89 as the third school of arts building on the same site. Converge worked with the client and structural engineers and the Department of Environment, Tourism, Science and Innovation to investigate options for the repairs with the least heritage impacts. A Heritage Impact Statement and an application for heritage exemption was prepared to assist the Council with its necessary heritage approvals for the works. Ongoing advice was provided throughout the works to manage heritage matters in accordance with the heritage approval from the State.
