The study included preparation of a contextual background including review of previous archaeological and cultural heritage reports and studies for the region. Consultation was undertaken with Traditional Owner representatives to identify locations of significant places/values along the alignment. Converge archaeologists accompanied Traditional Owner representatives on the field surveys to determine the presence of and record any cultural heritage objects/sites, significant Aboriginal areas and/or significant Aboriginal values within the easement. The attribution of significant Aboriginal area status to cultural places or localities on the basis of cultural grounds was left entirely to the Traditional Owner representatives. The subsequent report provided details of the assessment and management and mitigation options including exclusion zones and suggested variations to the proposed alignment.
