Twenty-two properties in Churchill Street in Childers are listed on the Queensland Heritage Register. The Childers Chamber of Commerce approached Converge to assist in exploring ways to maximise the commercial value of Childers heritage for both building and business owners in Churchill Street. Converge subsequently prepared a heritage strategy for the precinct, including the preparation of individual heritage plans to assist owners with the management of heritage listed buildings. The project aimed to explore the broader benefits of heritage tourism and branding. The strategy provided advice for the management of street frontages, including façade treatment and colour schemes; types and placement of signage; and for street furniture and fittings. The objective of the strategy was to develop and emphasise a cohesive and harmonious main street.
