Listed on the Queensland Heritage Register for its historic significance, rarity and archaeological potential, the Causeway is one of only three surviving extant structures associated with the Moreton Bay Penal Settlement. It also continues to play a vital contemporary role as the primary entry point for people and goods arriving on the island.

The AMP was developed to meet approval requirements for the partial reconstruction and consolidation of the exposed northern wall of the Causeway. Converge’s work included an assessment of the site’s archaeological significance, an evaluation of potential impacts, and clear, practical recommendations to ensure the protection and management of the Causeway’s heritage values throughout the construction process.

Converge’s previous work on this significant structure has included archaeological monitoring during construction works.
