Former Cleveland Lighthouse Conservation Management Plan

Constructed in 1864, the hexagonal timber lighthouse operated until 1975, when it was replaced by a beacon and relocated approximately 100 metres to the southwest. The lighthouse is one of only a handful of timber lighthouses surviving across Queensland from this period.  

The CMP was designed as a practical management tool to support Council in making sound, well‑informed decisions about conserving and managing this important maritime landmark. It identifies the cultural significance of the place, sets out clear conservation policies to protect that significance—particularly in the event of change—and provides strategies for managing impacts and implementing policies through day‑to‑day and long‑term management.
