The Former North Pine School of Arts has recently been nominated for inclusion on the Queensland Heritage Register, recognising its high level of cultural heritage significance to Queensland and the Petrie community.
The North Pine School of Arts was originally built on land purchased from Tom Petrie in 1888. It was opened on 28th January 1890 with a gala official opening ceremony. The unique building is listed on the City of Moreton Bay’s local heritage register for its significant heritage values to the region. The City of Moreton Bay engaged Converge Heritage + Community to a Conservation Management Plan to assist with the management of the building’s heritage significance. The Plan provided a detailed historical background, assessment of cultural heritage significance, identification of issues and opportunities and a set of detailed conservation policies, as well as an action plan to assist with the implimentation of policies.
