The local heritage studies have all, more or less, followed a similar methodology. This has included reviews of existing studies, lists and registers, thematic histories, preparation of lists of potential local heritage places, consultation with stakeholders including landowners at pastoral stations, LGA wide field work, production of heritage citations, presentations to heritage committees and Councilors and assistance with the notification process under the Queensland Heritage Act 1992 and planning schemes, including provision of fact sheets, one-on-one consultation with owners of notified places and responses to submissions.

The most successful aspect of the local heritage studies has been the adoption of local heritage registers in the Local Government Areas. The registers/overlays are the final ‘product' of the local heritage studies and reflect the applied methodology.

Notified and adopted local heritage registers resulting from the studies include:

Gladstone Regional Council Local Heritage Register

Fraser Coast Regional Council Local Heritage Register

Mount Isa Regional Council Local Heritage Register

North Burnett Regional Council Local Heritage Register

Whitsunday Regional Council Local Heritage Register

Bundaberg Regional Council Local Heritage Register

South Burnett Regional Council Local Heritage Register

Sunshine Coast Council Local Heritage Register

In addition, Converge has recently completed local heritage studies for the Toowoomba Regional Council, Central Highlands Regional Council and the City of Moreton Bay.
