Mount Ninderry Cultural Values Assessment

Sunshine Coast Council developed a Draft Management Plan for the Mount Ninderry Environmental Reserve. A key aspect of the draft plan is to consider and reflect the interests and aspirations of the Traditional Custodians, the Kabi Kabi People. The scope of the project was to undertake a cultural values assessment of the Mount Ninderry Environmental Reserve and to develop appropriate strategies to manage potential impacts on Aboriginal cultural heritage and the cultural values of the place from ongoing use and management of the reserve. Converge Heritage + Community was nominated by the Kabi Kabi People to act as technical advisors on cultural heritage matters relating to this project, including accompanying Kabi Kabi representatives on the field assessments and for the preparation of the Cultural Values Assessment report. The site assessments identified a number of sites and cultural values, and Converge worked closely with the Kabi Kabi People to develop suitable recommendations to assist Sunshine Coast Council to manage the cultural significance of the place.
