The 1880s Toowoomba Railway Goods Shed is listed on the Queensland Heritage Register as part of the Toowoomba Railway precinct. The once partially derelict building was proposed for refurbishment as part of the Railyards Precinct Masterplan, prepared by Toowoomba Regional Council. Converge provided heritage advice for the master plan project and the options analysis and prepared a Conservation Management Plan and Heritage Impact Statement to manage the significance of the Goods Shed during the proposed works. The Conservation Management Plan included a detailed assessment of the fabric of the building, as well an assessment of the site’s archaeological potential. During the construction, Converge undertook archaeological monitoring and provided ongoing heritage advice and supervision of works. The historic Goods Shed underwent a $10,000,000 refurbishment program and has been sensitively transformed into a multi-purpose venue as the first step in the development of the Railyards Precinct Masterplan.
